Dillian Whyte is in line to challenge Tyson Fury for his WBC world heavyweight title.

Dillian Whyte has been brutally mocked by Frank Warren, with Tyson Fury’s promoter describing him as ‘crap’. The Brixton heavyweight is at the front of the queue to challenge Fury for his WBC world heavyweight title next.

Whyte, 33, will finally be presented with an opportunity to fight for world honours if he can manage to defeat Otto Wallin at the end of this month, having previously been denied his shot despite occupying the No 1 spot with the WBC for over 1,000 days.

Express Sport has been told Fury’s mandatory defence will go ahead in February or March time against either Whyte or Wallin, who gave the Gypsy King a stern test over two years ago.

Warren expects Fury to have no troubles in dealing with whoever is put in front of him next and insisted that fellow Brit Whyte has not got the capabilities to defeat him.

He told Express Sport: “We don’t know yet who will be next because Whyte has got to fight Wallin.

“I’ve read something this morning where someone has said that Whyte’s probably just as strong as Tyson and a bigger puncher. Are they mental?

“I don’t know what planet some people are on. Dillian Whyte is crap. He’s not even in the same league as Tyson.

“Look at Tyson’s record and how many people he’s stopped.”

The Queensberry promoter even has reservations about Whyte’s chances against tough Swede Wallin.

“I think he’ll struggle against Wallin to be honest, I really do,” he said.

“There could be an upset on the cards there.”

Defeat against Wallin in two weeks’ time would not only see Whyte surrender his chance to fulfill a childhood dream, but also the biggest payday of his career.

The two British heavyweights have exchanged barbs over the past few years, with Whyte publicly calling Fury out on several occasions and accusing the Manchester giant of ‘ducking’ him.

The ‘Body Snatcher’ doubled down on labelling Fury a ‘coward’ today by pinning an old tweet on his account, which reads: “Gypsy Tyson Fury Coward always conning the public, you forget I’ve put you down lots before & watched you pathetically sobbing on the canvas, you ran away last year when WBC boxing ordered you to fight me anytime anywhere anyhow.”
