Fulham are reportedly set to seal a loan move for Chelsea youngster Ethan Ampadu.
The teenager, who can play at centre-back or as a defensive midfielder, has spent the 2019-20 campaign on loan in the Bundesliga with RB Leipzig and another temporary move appears in the pipeline.
According to The Athletic, Chelsea have a Premier League option in Fulham who are interested in acquiring his services on loan – with a move across west London ‘likely’.
The Blues want Ampadu to get some much-needed experience in the Premier League before involving him in Frank Lampard’s first-team.
Norwich, relegated to the Championship, were reportedly very interested in taking Ampadu on loan next season – eyeing him for a defensive midfield role while looking for cover at centre-back.
But the Canaries are set to miss out with Fulham front-runners for the 19-year-old’s signature.
Ampadu has endured a difficult time in a new environment in Germany after making the loan move to Leipzig for the 2019-20 season.
The Wales international has only featured seven times in all competitions for Leipzig, including three in Bundesliga and as many in the Champions League.
Ampadu will be desperate for more game-time next season as he looks to resurrect his Chelsea career after Lampard sent him out on loan in order to develop his game.
