Emma Raducanu laughs about having to ‘do more washing’ following her Wimbledon victory.

Emma Raducanu advanced to the fourth round of Wimbledon with another stunning victory over Sorana Cirstea.

In her on-court interview after defeating Sorana Cirstea in dramatic events on Saturday, Emma Raducanu had Court One at Wimbledon in fits of laughter. Raducanu was given a wildcard into the main draw of Wimbledon this year after demonstrating his talent at the youth level.

But what has happened since her first-round win over Vitalia Diatchenko has been nothing short of extraordinary.

Marketa Vondrousova, a French Open finalist just two years ago, was considered to be a considerably tougher opponent for the 18-year-old.

Raducanu, on the other hand, breezed through that match, winning in just over an hour.

Her efforts earned her a promotion to Court One, where she will meet Cirstea on Saturday.

Raducanu’s now-famous smile shone over her face as she came out onto the court, showing no indications of anxiety.

Raducanu won the opening set and moved a break up in the second with an eight-game winning streak.

Despite Cirstea’s return to the match, Raducanu maintained control and capitalized on her opportunity to win 6-3, 7-5.

She is the only British woman in the women’s draw as the tournament begins its second week.

“Who’d have guessed,” she murmured, a smile on her face.

“It’s interesting because when I was packing to enter the bubble, my folks said, ‘Aren’t you packing too many sets of match kit?’

“I guess I’m going to have to do some laundry tonight, but the hotel has a laundry service, so I’m fine.”

Cirstea’s shot went into the net, sending the British teenage sensation through. Raducanu slumped to her knees.

And Court One erupted in applause as a show of support for the superstar.

“I’m speechless right now,” Raducanu added.

“I had no idea how I would react if I won, and it just happened.

“I’m simply really happy for all of the support I received today; it means a lot to me.”

Throughout her on-court interview, she had the Court One in fits of laughing, especially when she gave a modest answer to one specific topic.

Raducanu laughed when asked what she gets out of her win: “Just to stay here and play in front of you.”

Raducanu’s worries were understandable given that she was performing on the largest platform of her career so far.
