Emma Raducanu, a British star, has a chance to ‘break into the top 20′ in the US Open.

Wimbledon winner Marion Bartoli has urged Emma Raducanu to reach the top levels of the game.

Marion Bartoli, the 2013 Wimbledon winner, has predicted Emma Raducanu to break into the world’s top 20. The former world No. 7 lauded the 18-year-old for building on her breakout performance at the All England Club, where she reached the second week in only her second Grand Slam appearance. Raducanu has recently broken into the top 150 in the world after reaching her first tour-level final and qualifying for the US Open by winning her first main draw match.

Raducanu created a name for herself this summer when she made a remarkable Grand Slam debut at Wimbledon as a wildcard, making it all the way to the second week.

The 18-year-old didn’t drop a set on her way to the round of 16, defeating Marketa Vondrousova, the 2019 Roland Garros runner-up, and becoming the youngest British woman to reach the last 16 in Open Era history.

She subsequently retired at a set and a break down in her match against Ajla Tomljanovic, claiming breathing difficulties.

While many players have had a Cinderella run at a major tournament, not everyone is able to repeat their success on the tour year after year, but Raducanu has already demonstrated that her Wimbledon heroics were not a one-off.

Following her performance at the All England Club, the Bromley teenage wonder has been expected to break into the world’s top 20.

After studying Raducanu during the North American hard court season, Bartoli, who won Wimbledon in 2013, expects huge things from her.

She believes that the current world No. 150 can be the next big thing in British tennis, fulfilling promise that some of her predecessors couldn’t.

“She’s been a fantastic character. She’s a breath of fresh air for the sport, and it’s especially good for the UK to have some young and bright players coming through, which hasn’t happened in a long time,” the former world No. 7 told Pickswise.

“Before, the UK’s hopes were on Heather Watson and Laura Robson, and they haven’t been able to achieve their full potential,” she concluded. Laura has been out primarily due to injury, whereas Heather has been sidelined primarily due to illness. Heather has worked as a reporter for the “Brinkwire Summary News.”
