Donny van de Beek’s surprise at Man United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is revealed ahead of the Watford match.

Donny van de Beek of Manchester United will be hoping to play against Watford at Vicarage Road this afternoon.

According to reports, Donny van de Beek was taken aback by the background checks conducted by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prior to his transfer to Manchester United.

Since arriving at Old Trafford in the summer of 2020, the Dutchman has made only a few appearances.

He’ll be hoping to play in today’s match against Watford at Vicarage Road.

Manchester United has struggled this season under Solskjaer, and today’s match against Watford is no exception.

With only 17 points from their first 11 games, the Red Devils desperately need to win today to lift the team’s spirits.

And United is expected to start Van de Beek as they try to sting the Hornets in their own backyard.

Since joining the Premier League from Ajax last year, the Netherlands international has only made four appearances, all of which came last season.

However, the Telegraph has debunked claims that Solskjaer had no interest in the 24-year-old ahead of that match.

During negotiations around 18 months ago, Van de Beek was said to have been’struck’ by how much the Norwegian desired him.

Solskjaer had reportedly investigated the midfielder’s background and family.

And, having previously been linked with a move to Real Madrid, Van de Beek got the impression that he was highly coveted at Old Trafford.

The 24-year-old is ready to leave the Red Devils in the January transfer window if he does not see regular action soon.

“I speak to him because it’s not easy when players don’t play as much as they think they should,” Solskjaer said on Friday.

“He believes he should play more.”

He’ll play a part.

“All I can say is that he’s another example of what to do when you’re not on the team, and he’ll reap the benefits.”

Man United manager Zinedine Zidane is torn between two worlds.

After Arsenal’s win over Leicester, Arteta now has nine undroppables.

Messi retaliates against Barcelona for allowing him to play for free.

“Our fans can see a top professional and a very good player,” he added.

“Donny is a man who never, ever gives up.
