Diego Simeone, the manager of Atletico Madrid, is at odds with the president over a proposed transfer to Barcelona.

Enrique Cerezo and Diego Simeone are at odds over the Barcelona exchange proposal.

Diego Simeone and Enrique Cerezo, the president of Atletico Madrid, are reportedly at odds over a transfer offer from Barcelona. Two of the six Spanish clubs have started their La Liga seasons with two victories and a tie.

Barcelona appeared to be on the verge of collapse earlier this summer when president Joan Laporta revealed that the club was in debt to the tune of £1.15 billion.

Since then, the Catalan giants have been anxious to offload some of their highest-paid players in order to bring their outgoings in line with La Liga spending regulations.

Barca were forced to let Lionel Messi leave the club earlier this summer due to a lack of funds to accommodate his exorbitant wage.

Antoine Griezmann has reportedly been offered to Atletico Madrid in exchange for Joao Felix.

Simeone wants to bring the France striker back to the Wanda Metropolitano, according to Spanish daily Sport, but Cerezo does not want to lose Felix.

Griezmann joined Atletico Madrid from Real Sociedad in 2014 and played for the club for five years.

During his stint at Madrid, the 30-year-old scored 133 goals in 257 appearances while also assisting 50 times.

After joining the Spanish giants for £107 million in 2019, he has subsequently starred for them.

Griezmann has never won a La Liga title despite playing for two of Spain’s greatest teams, and he may be permitted to leave Barcelona before the transfer deadline.

Meanwhile, Felix joined Atletico from Benfica just days before Griezmann was sold to Barcelona for a record £113 million.

After Paris Saint-Kylian Germain’s Mbappe, the striker became the second most expensive teenager in the game’s history.

He won La Liga last season, although in 58 league games for Atletico, he only managed to score 13 goals.

Cerezo appears to understand that the Portugal international is a stronger long-term prospect for Atletico than Griezmann, who is 21 years old.

After undergoing ankle surgery earlier this summer, Felix, who has 18 caps for Portugal, has yet to appear for Atletico this season.

During the second half of last season, the forward had been dealing with the issue. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
