Despite expressing an interest in Declan Rice, Manchester United face two roadblocks.

Man United have expressed an interest in West Ham’s Declan Rice, but a deal is apparently being stymied by two key roadblocks.

According to rumours, Manchester United has two roadblocks in the way of a stunning summer transfer for West Ham’s Declan Rice.

After all, the Red Devils are more interested in completing the £73 million signing of Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund.

When a medical and final personal terms are completed, Sancho is scheduled to arrive in the next several days.

After failing to win the Premier League for the eighth time in eight years, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is desperate to enhance his squad this summer.

United finished second to Manchester City in the Premier League, but were 12 points behind the champions.

After the club’s Europa League final defeat by Villarreal at the end of May, Solskjaer expected at least two or three new additions and immediately began to work on the club’s transfer plans.

A midfielder is thought to be high on Solskjaer’s wish list, and Rice, the versatile West Ham midfielder, is a contender for the job.

However, according to journalist Ian McGarry, United has two difficulties that might stymie a move for the 22-year-old.

Solskjaer already has a number of high-paid players in that position, such as Paul Pogba and Donny van de Beek.

Last summer, the latter was a £34 million signing, although he was barely in the Norwegian’s plans and has even been linked with a move away this year.

Rice’s value at West Ham is roughly £80 million, which is United’s second issue. Sancho’s £73 million transfer has already eaten into their budget, and they’ve reportedly set aside £50 million for a new centre-back to complement Harry Maguire.

On the Transfer Window Podcast, McGarry stated, “Rice was the subject of very, very intense attention from Chelsea while [Frank] Lampard was in charge of the team.”

“Once he quit the job, his passion waned. N’Golo Kante and Jorginho appear to be enough for [Thomas] Tuchel as his double pivot.

“However, according to our knowledge from the Transfer Window Podcast, Manchester United indicated interest in Rice prior to his highly successful and remarkable season with England.”Brinkwire Summary News”.
