David Beckham’s Inter Miami are interested in signing Barcelona striker Luis Suarez on a free transfer next summer.
As things stand Suarez will be out of contract from July 2021, and Inter Miami are offering the Uruguay international a lucrative four-year deal.
According to Mundo Deportivo, although Inter Miami are eager to sign Suarez, he is hopeful that his contract at Barcelona will be extended.
If Suarez plays in 60 per cent of Barcelona’s matches next season then his deal will automatically be renewed.
This season Suarez has scored 19 goals and provided 12 assists in 34 appearances for Barcelona across all competitions.
Inter Miami’s need for new recruits has been highlighted by their woeful start to their MLS campaign – they are languishing at the bottom of the Eastern Conference having lost all five of their games so far.
Although Suarez will be 34 years old by the time his current Barcelona deal expires, he could still have a lot to offer in MLS.
For now Suarez is focused on Barcelona, who are preparing for the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash against Napoli, with the sides tied at 1-1 after the frst leg in Italy.
