Danny Drinkwater drops Ben Chilwell transfer hint by tagging Chelsea in Instagram post alongside him

Danny Drinkwater has dropped a massive hint after tagging Leicester defender Ben Chilwell in an Instagram post along with the midfielder’s current club, Chelsea.

The 23-year-old left back is reportedly regarded as a priority signing by Frank Lampard as he aims to strengthen his defensive options at Stamford Bridge.

Doubts remain over the futures of Emerson Palmieri and Marcos Alonso, and Chilwell is thought to be top of the Blues’ list after his impressive season at the King Power Stadium.

The Blues have already spent heavily this summer to bring in forwards Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech, while negotiations are ongoing with Bayer Leverkusen for young star Kai Havertz.

But Drinkwater has got Chelsea fans talking about Chilwell after uploading a picture with England international on social media on Monday.

The Chelsea midfielder, who moved to Stamford Bridge from Leicester three years ago, posted a picture of himself standing next to the 23-year-old on holiday, with the the Greek island of Mykonos stated as the location.

The caption read: ‘Summer scouting mission! great guy and some footballer too @benchilwell.’

Some fans were quick to tweet their excitement, with one Instagram user saying: ‘Summer scouting mission… nice one’.

Another agreed, writing: ‘Agent Drinkwater I like what ur doing’.

However, some wanted the midfielder to deliver a warning that Chelsea do have alternatives to Chilwell – such as Ajax star Nicolas Tagliafico – if Leicester do not drop their price, with one writing: ‘Ben tell Lei to lower their demands or we’re going for Tagliafico.’

Another agreed, stating: ‘Tell him to lower Leicester’s price… no way we paying 60-80 mil’, while another added: ‘Danny I see what you’re doing there.. tell him if they bring their price down we can talk business’.

Some however were left thoroughly unimpressed, with one saying: ‘Tell him to stay away from us.’
