Former boxing champion Chris Eubank was mugged by a “well-dressed” thief in smart jeans who stole his prized Louis Vuitton bag and “perfect temperature” Waitrose chocolate bar
Legendary British boxer Chris Eubank was robbed of his £400 Louis Vuitton bag by the UK’s “most brazen crook” on Tuesday.
The former WBO middleweight and super-middleweight champion was ambushed after a visit to a Barclays bank in Edgware Road, West London.
The well-dressed thief, who was apparently unaware of Eubank’s fearsome reputation in the ring, tackled the 55-year-old from behind and grabbed his belongings in broad daylight.
They then “sprinted” away with the national treasure’s prized clutch bag, which the designer apparently no longer makes, while Eubank ran straight into the Barclays to report the crime to the police.
Talking to The Evening Standard, Eubank said: “I couldn’t believe it. I was stunned.
“He couldn’t have known who I was because he wouldn’t have tried it. He was just looking at the prize.
“It was over in seconds and he was down the road like a sprinter with a baton.”
Eubank went on to add that he was too shocked to consider pursuing the thief, who was “rather well-dressed with smart jeans”.
Eubank added: “I thought, ‘He must be the country’s most brazen crook’.
“But it’s a sign of the times – they don’t care about confronting someone like me, so nobody is immune.”
Among the stolen items was the bag, which holds sentimental value, his ‘I’m a Celeb’ bandana and most devastatingly a quarter bar of Waitrose Belgian chocolate with hazelnuts.
He said: “That’s what’s really messed up my day.
“It’s been in there for six days just ready to eat. I like it at that temperature and they took it.”
