Chelsea’s ‘concerns’ have been detailed, with Roman Abramovich expected to make a transfer decision.
Chelsea has won eight of their first 11 matches in the Premier League, putting them on top of the table.
According to legendary Premier League goalkeeper Brad Friedel, Chelsea will be concerned about Christian Pulisic’s injury history.
Friedel, on the other hand, does not believe Roman Abramovich will profit from the move.
Since moving to Stamford Bridge from Borussia Dortmund in 2019, USA international Pulisic has been plagued by injuries.
Pulisic missed over two months of action during his first season at Chelsea due to an abductor injury.
He missed time last season due to a hamstring injury, and he injured his ankle while playing for the United States in September.
His latest injury kept him out for another two months, and he only returned to action in Chelsea’s Champions League victory over Malmo earlier this month.
Pulisic has also been plagued by a slew of minor setbacks and other vexing absences that have hampered his Chelsea career.
And his compatriot Friedel believes Chelsea’s decision-makers will be concerned about injury.
“It’s a concern when your best players are consistently injured,” Friedel told Goal in collaboration with Betway US.
“You want your best players to be playing consistently with their club teams and to be injury-free, and he hasn’t been injury-free.”
“This has also hampered his chances of becoming a regular for Chelsea.”
“Because the national team isn’t a day-to-day club team, the people who monitor his fitness will be his club team, which is Chelsea at the moment.”
“I’m sure if you ask Chelsea if his injuries are an issue and if they’re worried about it, they’d say ‘yes, it’s a concern’ – maybe not on the record, but definitely off it.”
“I don’t believe transfer talk should be discussed right now.”
“He needs to be fully fit for a long period of time, and if he is, I believe he will be in [Thomas] Tuchel’s plans because of his quality.”
“However, he must be in good physical condition for a long time.”
Since joining Chelsea for £58 million, Pulisic has scored 18 goals in 81 games.
With his speed and attacking instinct, he has demonstrated his prodigious abilities on numerous occasions.
