Chelsea target Kai Havertz can leave ‘under certain conditions’ say Bayer Leverkusen

Bayer Leverkusen have hinted that they will be selling Chelsea target Kai Havertz this summer, but will only agree to do so ‘under certain conditions.’

Havertz, 21, has been linked with the Blues for several months and is tipped for a huge-money summer switch to Stamford Bridge.

The two clubs are yet to come to an official agreement on any transfer however, with Leverkusen holding out for £90million (€100m).

Now, sporting director Rudi Voller has offered further information on the matter, after addressing the topic with German media.

‘No decision has been made yet. I’d like to repeat myself by emphasizing that we’re talking about a wonderful footballer,’ Voller told Kicker this week

‘There is nothing new in this regard. We have a clear and mutual agreement with him and his representatives that he can only leave under certain conditions.

‘Otherwise he will stay.’

Leverkusen are understood to be looking to squeeze as much as possible out of the deal, given they are under no obligation to sell Havertz this summer.

The player is contracted to the club until 2022, giving Leverkusen the option to capitalise upon his services for another season before selling next summer.

Chelsea are active in the market having had their hands tied last summer due to a transfer ban.

The Blues have already snapped up Hakim Ziyech, and beat rivals Liverpool to the £52m signature of Germany international Timo Werner.

Chelsea are also heavily linked with a move for West Ham’s defensive midfielder Declan Rice, along with a raid on Leicester City for full-back Ben Chilwell.
