Chelsea has three players in their squad. Inter Milan may agree to a swap for Romelu Lukaku.

Inter Milan striker Romelu Lukaku is allegedly open to returning to Chelsea in the summer.

Prior to the start of the new season, Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel is in desperate need of new attacking reinforcements. The 47-year-old led the Blues to a thrilling Champions League triumph just four months after taking over from Frank Lampard, but his options at the top of the pitch are limited for a team with high aspirations of winning the Premier League crown at the next opportunity.

Olivier Giroud, who impressed when called upon to fill in last season, has already moved from Stamford Bridge to the San Siro, having signed a £1 million deal with AC Milan earlier this month.

Meanwhile, since Tuchel’s arrival, Tammy Abraham has fallen out of favor and is apparently on Arsenal’s radar as the Gunners look for a new striker.

Chelsea has also struggled to rely on Timo Werner’s goals, who has struggled to make an impact since joining the club from RB Leipzig a year ago.

Kai Havertz was obliged to lead the line for Chelsea late last season, but the versatile German is not the out-and-out striker Tuchel will be hoping to lead the west London club to their first domestic title since 2017.

Erling Haaland of Borussia Dortmund has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea in recent months, while a move for Inter Milan’s Romelu Lukaku is also thought to be on the table.

According to a report from Eurosport, the Belgian marksman is open to returning to Chelsea this summer, with the newly-crowned European champions reportedly working on a deal for his services behind closed doors.

After witnessing Achraf Hakimi join Paris Saint-Germain earlier this month, Inter may be hesitant to transfer any more of their best players.

Unless Chelsea can persuade the Italian giants to lower their asking price by agreeing to a player-plus-cash deal, any successful bid for Lukaku will almost certainly need to exceed £100 million.

Abraham appears to be the obvious choice, with the 23-year-old still proving to be a valuable asset despite Tuchel’s decision to keep him out in the cold.

During the second half of the season, he only made a few appearances. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
