Chelsea are considering an offer from Ligue 1 side Rennes to take defender Fikayo Tomori out on loan.
The 22-year-old recently lost his place in the starting side under Frank Lampard, but the Blues are yet to make a decision on his future, according to the Guardian.
Officials at Chelsea are aware that a loan spell for more game time could be crucial as the England international continues to grow, with other clubs in Europe interested.
Tomori made 22 appearances in Lampard’s side this season, with most of them coming earlier in the campaign before the lockdown as he suffered an injury during the enforced break.
He also earned himself a new five-year deal at the club and made his international debut back in November against Kosovo.
The defender has previous experience out on loan, as he played for Championship side Derby during the 2018/19 season under Lampard again.
He had a strong season with the Rams and helped them reach the play-off final.
Rennes have become a much more competitive outfit in France after finishing third in the reduced Ligue 1 season.
It is quite possible that Tomori would get a loan this upcoming season, with Chelsea targeting Declan Rice and Jose Maria Gimenez from Atletico Madrid in their summer spending frenzy.
