Celtic on alert: Filip Benkovic is recalled by Leicester City from Cardiff

After an unsuccessful loan spell at Cardiff, Filip Benkovic has returned to Leicester City.

This season, the former Celtic player made only one appearance for the Blue Birds and his parent club has now been recalled.

Cardiff City may confirm that Filip Benkovic has been recalled by his parent club Leicester City, Cardiff said in a statement.

“We would like to thank Filip for his services and wish him the best for the future.”

Leicester manager Brendan Rodgers said last month that if he didn’t get the playing time he needed to improve, the Croatian’s short-term future would be reconsidered.

It is known that City could find a new loan club for him and Benkovic may be a possibility with Celtic in the search for a central defender.

Christopher Jullien, who in last week’s game against Dundee United sustained a knee injury, will be out for longer.

He’s a very important player, but it’s a bad injury,” Lennon revealed the extent of the injury, saying.” For an extended period of time, we are going to lose him.

“It will be maybe three or four months, so it’s a hammer blow for us.”
