The Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) League Sports Company announced on Monday that Zhang Xiong has been named as the new CEO.
Wang Dawei, the former CEO, resigned in mid-July citing personal reasons, and the CEO position has been vacant ever since.
Zhang joined the company in 2017, when the CBA League Sports Co. was founded. He has been in charge of the competitive issues of the league.
“Mr. Zhang has been an insider of Chinese basketball for years. He plays an important role in the development of the CBA league, and is qualified for leading the league to the next step. He is expected to continue promoting CBA 2.0 plan. The board of directors believe Mr. Zhang can help to build the league as the most popular sports brand in China,” the league said in a statement.
The 2020-2021 season of the CBA league is rumored to start next month.
