Last weekend, Rangers’ narrow win at Ibrox moved them 19 points clear of Celtic and another big step on the path to their first title in the Premier League since 2011.
The side of Neil Lennon still has three games to play and could close the gap on their rivals in the coming weeks, but after the bitter derby defeat, the possibility of a historic tenth consecutive Premier League title has receded further into the distance.
Meanwhile, the league leaders are in impressive shape. So far, Steven Gerrard’s side have won 20 (two draws) of their 22 Premier League matches, conceding just five goals in the process.
At the same stage of their “invincible” 2016/17 season, the men from Ibrox are only two points worse than Brendan Rodgers’ Celtic – leading some to doubt whether Gerrard will become the second coach to finish an undefeated Premiership season.
