Bukayo Saka criticizes social media corporations for “failing to do more” to combat racist harassment.
For the first time since the Euro 2020 final, the Arsenal winger has spoken out.
Bukayo Saka, an Arsenal winger, has spoken out for the first time since missing the game-winning penalty in England’s Euro 2020 final loss to Italy on Sunday. Saka, Marcus Rashford, and Jadon Sancho all endured a barrage of hate on social media during the Wembley match, and they have all reacted.
Arsenal and Adidas have unveiled their official 2021/22 home jersey, which is based on the club’s motto of “Arsenal for everyone.”
Saka thanked the many well-wishers for their support in an emotional statement shared on his social media platforms following his final heartbreak.
The 19-year-old also delivered a strong message to social media behemoths Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, pleading with them to do more to prevent the abuse he, Sancho, and Rashford faced following Sunday’s match.
“I took a few days off from social media to spend time with my family and think on the past few weeks,” he stated.
“I can’t express how appreciative I am for all of the love I’ve gotten in this message, and I feel compelled to thank everyone who has helped me.
“It was an honor to be a part of a @England squad that leads by example; they are brothers for life, and I am grateful for everything I learned from every single player and staff member who put in so much effort.
“Seeing my family in the crowd, knowing what they’ve sacrificed to help me get there, it meant everything to me to assist that team reach our first final in 55 years.
“I have no words to express my disappointment with the outcome and my penalty. I was confident that we would win this for you.
“I’m sorry we weren’t able to bring it home for you this year, but I promise you that we will give it our all to ensure that this generation knows what it’s like to win.
“My post-match reaction told it all; I was in so much pain and felt like I’d betrayed you all and my England family, but I promise you this… I’m not going to let that moment, or the negativity I’ve been dealing with this week, break me.
“To those who have fought for me and sent me meaningful messages.”Brinkwire Summary News.”
