Everton are not in the market for former Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic.
The 36-year-old is admired by his former Chelsea boss Carlo Ancelotti but the Everton coach is looking at other options for his defence plus a holding midfielder.
Ivanovic is a free agent after leaving Zenit St Petersburg where he played 35 games this season and scored five goals.
He has been linked with a move to Goodison Park in recent days and wants to return to England but Everton are targeting younger players and ideally left-sided for their defence.
Ivanovic has maintained a high level of fitness, playing regularly in Russia, and intends to carry on playing in the Premier League. He has offers from abroad but is keen on England where he retains a home in London.
Combative centre back Ivanovic spent the majority of his career at Stamford Bridge winning nearly every major honour. He played 377 games for Chelsea and scored 34 goals.
He moved to Zenit in 2016 and went on to win two Russian league titles including the double as captain this season. Ivanovic clocked up 112 games there and scored 12 goals.
