Australia are close to finalising a 20-man squad for the proposed limited-overs tour of England with players set to be notified whether they have made the cut early next week.
Cricket Australia are yet to fully commit to the tour of three Twenty20 internationals on September 4, 6 and 8 a one-day series on September 11, 13 and 16.
The delay is understood to be due to the need to co-ordinate travel and isolation requirements for individuals from different states and with varying post-tour plans, such as travelling on to the Indian Premier League that starts in the United Arab Emirates on September 19.
A 26-strong group was selected last month in anticipation of the trip going ahead, which is worth an estimated £75million to the ECB.
Australia will only officially announce their squad once all travel arrangements have been made.
Meanwhile, this October’s postponed Twenty20 World Cup has been re-scheduled in Australia for October-November 2022, with India retained as hosts for the 2021 version.
The ECB have also confirmed that England men’s white-ball tour to India, scheduled for September and October this year, will be postponed until early 2021.
