As the Mercedes star prepares to race, Lewis Hamilton is pulling out all the stops. Max Verstappen is undergoing a makeover.
Lewis Hamilton is putting everything on the line ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix to try to catch Red Bull’s Max Verstappen.
Lewis Hamilton says he’s pulling out all the stops ahead of the Austrian Grand Prix to try to catch Max Verstappen and Red Bull in the title race, and that he’ll even return to the simulator, which he admits he doesn’t “necessarily relish.”
Verstappen now leads the standings by 18 points heading into round nine in Austria, with Red Bull pulling away from Mercedes in the team standings by 40 points after winning the Styrian Grand Prix.
Meanwhile, Hamilton finished second and asked his Mercedes team to bring some fresh modifications to the next race, which will again be held at the Red Bull Ring.
The seven-time world champion used social media to share a photo of himself on the race simulator, which he previously described as a “pointless activity.”
“I can’t say that I necessarily enjoy it,” the 36-year-old told Express Sport when asked if the simulator work was helping.
“I just went in to see if there was any way I could help the team, just be better prepared, especially after those past few difficult races we had.
“I think there were a couple of good things that came out of it, but nothing life-changing, so I’ll keep working with Anthony [Davidson], and we still have drivers on there who do a lot of work. I think we just need to work on the processes of how we communicate with them and their program, so we can get the right things tested.
“I believe it has been a nice experience overall.”
Toto Wolff, Mercedes team principal, stated before the race that the W12 will not be upgraded this season.
That isn’t the case, according to Mercedes’ soon-to-be chief technical officer James Allison.
Allison told the F1 Nation Podcast, “We have a reasonable amount of items that are going to make our car faster in the next races.” “Let’s hope they’re adequate.”
When asked if his remarks contradicted Wolff’s, Allison said, “I don’t think those two ideas are at odds with each other.” Toto, I don’t believe, has said exactly that.
“As Toto points out, next year’s rules will be a large and hairy affair.” Brinkwire Summary News”.
