According to rumours, Romelu Lukaku hopes to join Chelsea in time for their European Super Cup match against Villarreal on Wednesday. The Inter Milan star is a key transfer target for Thomas Tuchel. And a huge homecoming to Stamford Bridge is on the cards.
Erling Haaland was supposed to join Chelsea during the summer transfer window.
However, with Borussia Dortmund insistent that their greatest asset will not be allowed to leave, the Blues have reversed their position.
Chelsea, on the other hand, is attempting to sign Lukaku from Inter Milan, a decade after bringing the Belgian to the club from Anderlecht.

Chelsea, on the other hand, are currently in a battle against time to achieve this.
Their talks with Inter have failed to bear fruit, with the Serie A heavyweights wanting a whopping £98 million to sell their talisman.
However, so far, talks have gone well, with the Blues thought to be just £4 million short of Inter’s massive asking price.
Chelsea attempted to include Davide Zappacosta and Marcos Alonso in a trade deal, but neither player is wanted by Inter.
And it appears like Lukaku will return to Stamford Bridge in the near future, where he will be tasked with leading his club to Premier League triumph.

After his side’s 2-2 pre-season friendly tie with Tottenham on Wednesday, Tuchel was asked about Lukaku.
The German, on the other hand, remained tight-lipped, stating, “I won’t talk about players who aren’t in my squad.”
