As Cristiano Ronaldo misses out on a record, Manchester United fans make a plea to Bruno Fernandes.

The failure of Cristiano Ronaldo’s penalty kick increased the possibility of an issue in Manchester United’s squad.

Manchester United supporters have pushed manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to make a major choice this season. Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s missed penalty for Portugal, fans demanded that Bruno Fernandes be kept on as the club’s penalty taker.

On transfer deadline day, Cristiano Ronaldo returned to Manchester United from Juventus.

When he returns to the United first squad, the 36-year-old is anticipated to take over penalty duties from his compatriot Bruno Fernandes.

But it was Fernandes who provided Ronaldo the ball to take a penalty against the Republic of Ireland on Wednesday evening.

Only for the veteran to fumble his lines and miss out on a chance to break the all-time international goal-scoring record, with Gavin Bazunu saving the day.

Supporters of Manchester United interpreted the episode as a sign of things to come at their club.

And he pushed boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to keep Fernandes as his first choice.

One supporter stated, “I love Ronaldo, but there should only be one penalty kicker on our team, and that is 100% Fernandes.”

“Watching Ronaldo miss penalties is something Bruno Fernandes should certainly get used to,” another joked.

During his first Premier League season with Manchester United, Fernandes scored nine penalties.

Half of the playmaker’s 18 total league goals in the 2020-21 season came from penalty kicks.

However, one fan remarked that the 26-year-days old’s may be numbered.

They stated, “Bruno Fernandes passed that ball to Ronaldo to take the penalty with the look of a guy who knew his club’s stat-padding days were finished.”

When United hosts Newcastle United on Saturday, September 11th, Ronaldo might make his first appearance since returning the club.

Portugal has two more international matches before returning to Premier League action, with Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates facing Qatar on Saturday and Azerbaijan the following Tuesday.
