As a result of ‘two players blocking a Juventus move,’ Arsenal receives a transfer boost from Dusan Vlahovic.
Arsenal has already made a bid for Dusan Vlahovic worth £46 million plus Lucas Torreira.
According to reports, Fiorentina’s reluctance to allow another star to join Juventus could help Arsenal’s pursuit of Dusan Vlahovic.
Mikel Arteta’s side has been linked with the 21-year-old sensation, who leads Serie A goal scorers with 16 goals in 20 league appearances.
Arsenal reportedly made a £46 million plus Lucas Torreira bid in the January transfer window to bring the Serbian hitman to the Emirates Stadium.
Arteta appears to be on the lookout for a striker, with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah’s futures in doubt, and former captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang yet to be named in a match-day squad after allegedly arriving late from a trip abroad.
The Gunners are thought to be competing with Juventus, Tottenham Hotspur, and Bayern Munich for Vlahovic’s signature, who is valued at around £68 million.
According to the Athletic, Fiorentina’s previous history of selling Federico Bernardeschi and Federico Chiesa to Juventus may mean they are hesitant to sell Vlahovic to Massimiliano Allegri’s side.
Bernardeschi joined Turin for £35 million in 2017, while Chiesa joined on a two-year loan in 2020, with an option to buy for £36.3 million in 2022.
Instead of selling another key asset to Juventus, Vincenzo Italiano would rather start a bidding war for Vlahovic’s signature among the much wealthier Premier League clubs.
After Vlahovic reportedly refused to extend his contract, which expires in the summer of 2022, La Viola have grown resigned to their fate.
While leaving Fiorentina in the middle of the season is unlikely to appeal to the Serbian ace, Fiorentina are reportedly looking for a buyer in January.
Fiorentina may be concerned about his transfer value decreasing as his contract expires at the end of the season.
And, with a reported £68 million price tag on his head, the Serie A giants will try to squeeze every penny out of the Serbian.
While Arsenal has made no secret of their admiration for the 21-year-old, La Repubblica reports that Pep Guardiola has also identified Vlahovic as a possible replacement.
Despite holding a commanding ten-point lead at the top of the Premier League, City is in desperate need of a win.
