Alexandre Lacazette has admitted he finds Barcelona’s interest in him ‘flattering’ ahead of the summer transfer window.
The Arsenal striker has been in fine form for Unai Emery’s side and has scored 19 goals in all competitions this campaign, helping the Gunners to a place in the Europa League final.
Barcelona have now been credited with an interest in signing him in the summer.
The Nou Camp side could move for him if they miss out on Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann.
There is little reason to think Lacazette is unhappy at Arsenal, but he has made it clear that he views interest from one of Europe’s biggest sides as a positive.
He was asked about the interest by French outlet Telefoot and they report he said: ‘It is flattering’.
Meanwhile, he has praised Emery for helping Arsenal take the ‘next step’ after arriving last summer.
‘That’s what the club saw, him as the coach to help the team go to the next step and he did because we go to the final in his first season,’ Lacazette said of Emery.
‘I hope it is going to be a great final for us and we will prepare for it. It is really important. The Champions League is a big competition.
‘Last season, we failed at the semi-finals (of the Europa League) and this season we wanted to be better.’
