Arsenal and Tottenham are reportedly vying for Bordeaux midfielder Yacine Adli, but they are up against stiff competition.

Arsenal and Tottenham could go head-to-head in the transfer market for a midfielder.

Arsenal and Tottenham are said to be competing for the services of Bordeaux midfielder Yacine Adli. However, the North London clubs will not be alone in their quest to fine-tune their squads ahead of the Premier League season’s start.

The Gunners are aiming to bolster their creative midfield options after loan signings Martin Odegaard and Dani Ceballos returned to Real Madrid.

Mikel Arteta will have been relieved to secure Emile Smith Rowe’s future earlier this summer, but the Spanish manager still needs more attacking alternatives to bolster his underwhelming squad.

Nuno Espirito Santo, the new manager of Tottenham Hotspur, is seeking to stamp his imprint on the team, and Spurs have done so with the signings of Sevilla attacker Bryan Gil and Atalanta duo Cristian Romero and Pierluigi Gollini on loan.

Both clubs, though, appear to be interested in Adli, who has been impressing with his exploits in Ligue 1 with Bordeaux.

Spurs and Arsenal, according to Foot Mercato journalist Santi Aouna, have made contact with Bordeaux about a prospective transfer of the 21-year-old.

However, both teams must act quickly if they want to sign the potential kid, as Serie A heavyweights AC Milan are already in talks to recruit him.

Milan is claimed to have made an offer of €12 million (£10.1 million) for Adli, with a 10% sell-on clause included as a bonus.

Bordeaux, on the other hand, is not satisfied with the offer and is holding out for a bigger one, which might allow Arsenal and Tottenham to formalize their interest.

Meanwhile, Lille is said to be interested in Adli, who might become a target for Bordeaux’s French rivals given the uncertainty surrounding Renato Sanches’ future.

Adli, a Frenchman with little experience but a lot of potential, might be signed in the hopes of becoming a future star.

Adli was a product of PSG’s youth system before being traded to Bordeaux in 2019.

The youngster can play in a variety of midfield positions, including wide areas and deeper spots in the center.

During the 2020/21 season, he made 35 league appearances, scoring two goals and assisting on five occasions.
