Andy Robertson has had minor surgery on his hand after picking up an infection.
The Liverpool left-back returned to pre-season training on Saturday morning but was not allowed to participate in the usual test and drills.
This is due to the medical team continuing to monitor his rehabilitation from surgery.
The Reds have played down the issue, however, stating he will travel with his team-mates for the pre-season tour of the United States.
Robertson’s last competitive match was in Euro 2020 qualifying on June 8 when he scored to help Scotland defeat Cyprus 2-1.
Jurgen Klopp’s side beat Tranmere 6-0 in their first friendly on Thursday evening.
They play Bradford City on Sunday before the head to the USA where they will play Borussia Dortmind, Sevilla and Sporting.
The Reds then play Napoli in Edinburgh, Lyon in Geneva before facing Manchester City in the Community Shield on August 4.
