After winning Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic issues a warning to Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
After capturing the 2021 Wimbledon trophy, Novak Djokovic has equaled Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal with 20 Grand Slam titles.
Novak Djokovic believes he has no plans to retire anytime soon after tying Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal for the most Grand Slam titles. After winning the Australian Open and the French Open, Djokovic was a strong favorite to win Wimbledon going into the tournament.
He hadn’t lost at Wimbledon since 2016, and he was hoping for a third consecutive victory.
The biggest prize on offer for the world No. 1 was finally matching Nadal and Federer’s Grand Slam totals.
Berrettini, probably the best male player on grass, stood in his way in the final.
On grass, the Italian has won 11 straight matches, including the Queen’s crown last month.
Berrettini was always going to put Djokovic to the test, and he started by disrupting the script on Centre Court.
Berrettini came back to win the first set in spectacular way after trailing 5-2 in the first set to the Serbian tennis great.
Djokovic, on the other hand, maintained his composure to tie the match before gaining a 2-1 lead in the third set.
Djokovic continued to seem in command from there, and in the final games of the fourth set, he began to put on a show for the crowd at Centre Court.
Berrettini’s sliced backhand into the net gave Berrettini his 20th Grand Slam victory, and Djokovic fell to the floor in despair.
In his post-match interview, Djokovic did not take lightly the fact that he had drawn level with Nadal and Federer, applauding the famous trio for pushing him to new heights.
Djokovic, on the other hand, believes he has no intention of slowing down anytime soon as he seeks to establish himself in a league of his own.
He explained, “It implies none of us three will stop.”
“I believe that is the case.
“I’ve said it many times before, and I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Rafa and Roger.
“They are two of the most important players I have ever faced in my career. They are legends in our sport.
“I believe they are the reason I am where I am today.
“They’ve assisted me in recognizing what I need to do to develop and become physically stronger.”Brinkwire Summary News”.
