After winning $85k on a Conor McGregor bet at UFC 264, Floyd Mayweather thanks Dustin Poirier.

Floyd Mayweather staked a large sum of money on Dustin Poirier to defeat Conor McGregor.

Floyd Mayweather congratulated Dustin Poirier right away for assisting him in winning $85,000 by betting on the Diamond to defeat Conor McGregor at UFC 264. Notorious’ fight was called off in the early hours of Sunday morning after he broke his ankle in a freak accident.

After betting $50,000 on Poirier to beat McGregor at UFC 264, Mayweather has made a $85,000 profit.

It comes after the Diamond’s tense first-round victory, which was made possible by a doctor’s stoppage in bizarre circumstances.

McGregor and Poirier met in the Octagon for the third time with the scores tied at one apiece, however the fight ended in a draw despite the American’s victory.

That’s because Notorious broke his ankle in dramatic circumstances at the end of the first round.

McGregor put all of his weight on his leg as he rushed forward to punch, causing his ankle to snap and the bout to stop prematurely.

Nonetheless, another of the Irishman’s foes, Floyd Mayweather, was a pleased spectator, having placed a $50,000 bet on Poirier.

“Thanks for getting me paid!” he wrote on Instagram to @dustinpoirier.

There were many responses, including one from a fan who said, “Easyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

“Bruh Mcgregor really beat himself,” wrote another.

“INCOMING JAKE PAUL!” exclaimed one supporter.

By the time the fight was called off, McGregor was down on all three scorecards, but UFC president Dana White vowed that the rivalry was far from over.

Floyd Mayweather (@floydmayweather) shared a post.

“The fight was not completed,” White stated. “You can’t let a fight end like that. We’ll have to wait and watch how this all plays out.

“No one knows how long Conor will be gone. Until Conor is ready, Poirier will do his thing.”

The severity of McGregor’s injuries, on the other hand, appears to be extreme, and if he returns to the Octagon this year, it will be a spectacular comeback.
