After Tyson Fury’s savage victory over Deontay Wilder, fans are calling for knighthood.

Fury remains the WBC heavyweight champion after his win over Wilder in Las Vegas, and now fans are calling for the Gypsy King to be handed another title for his heroics both in and out of the ring.

Tyson Fury’s victory over Deontay Wilder in their Las Vegas trilogy fight has led to fans calling for the Gypsy King to be rewarded with a knighthood. Fury survived two knock-downs to brutally end the blockbuster bout in the 11th round, sending the American to the canvas with a huge right hook with both fighters looking exhausted.

The Saturday night showdown has been dubbed one of the best fights in recent memory, with both boxers giving everything they had in front of an enthralled crowd at the MGM Grand and millions of viewers around the world.

After a fast start from Wilder, Fury looked to be in major trouble on more than one occasion but showed remarkable resilience to withstand the barrage the Bronze Bomber was coming at him with.

He was knocked down twice in the fourth round and it looked like had been saved by the bell, though the Briton came back roaring and piled on the pressure as both began to tire.

But Fury had more in the tank than his opponent, and bided his time while Wilder continued to swing.

The American was knocked down in the 10th, giving Fury more of an advantage on the judge’s scorecards, but in the end they weren’t needed as Fury finished the job in the next round.

The 33-year-old retained his WBC and The Ring titles, and has taken a huge step towards being given a shot at becoming the undisputed champion.

In recognition of his achievements, some fans on social media have called for Fury to be rewarded with honours.

“If Tyson Fury doesn’t get a knighthood in the next session, it would finally confirm to me that it has become totally meaningless reward, no longer serving its intended purpose,” Andrew Barclay said on Twitter.

“Spectacular career, inspirational story and amazing charitable work. What more needs to be done?”

Michelle Lockley said: “Tyson Fury for a knighthood for his dedication to mental health awareness. He’s absolutely inspirational for our future generations’ mental health showing you can turn your life around!”

And Rick Parmar added: “Tyson Fury deserves a knighthood for that performance.. “Brinkwire Summary News”.
