After the transfer, Chelsea may have the ideal shirt number for Romelu Lukaku.

According to rumours, Chelsea is getting closer to re-signing Romelu Lukaku.

After reportedly telling Inter Milan that he wants to return to Stamford Bridge, Chelsea may have the exact shirt number to offer Romelu Lukaku. After moving their attention away from Erling Haaland, Chelsea has moved rapidly in their pursuit of Lukaku.

Lukaku was a Chelsea player for three years, from 2011 to 2014, but he had two loan periods before signing a permanent agreement with the club.

He is now poised to be given a chance to play as the Blues’ main striker.

According to the Athletic, the 28-year-old told Inter on Tuesday that he wants to return to the Premier League.

During his initial time at Chelsea, Lukaku wore the number 18 shirt.

However, whenever he returns, he may be able to get his favored No 9 position.

Lukaku has played as a striker for both United and Inter, as well as representing Belgium.

Tammy Abraham is presently wearing the No 9 shirt for Chelsea, but his future with the club appears to be bleak.

Abraham, who fell out of favor under Thomas Tuchel last season, is a target for Arsenal.

According to trade specialist Fabrizio Romano, Atalanta in Serie A is also interested in signing the England international.

Chelsea are ‘confident’ in signing Lukaku, according to Romano, while Inter want Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata as a replacement.

As a result, Abraham may be able to complete a transfer triangle.

Last season, the 23-year-old was Chelsea’s joint top goalscorer in all competitions.

However, his chances would be further hampered by his upcoming arrival.

Darren Ambrose, a former Crystal Palace midfielder, feels Abraham should look for a new club.

Ambrose informed talkSPORT that Thomas Tuchel isn’t a fan of Tammy Abraham.

“Again, I think taking a tiny step back to go ahead is something Tammy needs to do.

“I believe there will be takers for £40 million, and I believe he has done well at Chelsea. Under Thomas Tuchel, he hasn’t had the opportunities he desired.

“However, that does happen with managers and some players on occasion.”Brinkwire Summary News”.
