After struggling for minutes this season, Raheem Sterling is ‘open to’ leaving Man City in search of’more game-time.’

RAHEEM STERLING is considering leaving Manchester City if he is not guaranteed consistent playing time.

And, despite offers from Barcelona and others, the England captain claims he still wants to play overseas.

After a difficult few months, the former Liverpool star, 26, has put contract talks at the Etihad on hold, according to SunSport.

Sterling’s current contract expires in less than two years, and he wants to know how much he will play before signing a new one.

The star is content to play as a striker for City instead of his usual left-wing position, but he needs more game time to grow in that position.

“If there was an option to go somewhere else for more game time, I would be open to it,” Sterling, a three-time Premier League champion, said.

“Football is the most important thing to me, along with the tasks and dreams I’ve set for myself since I was a child.”

“As an English player, the Premier League is all I know.”

“I’ve always believed I’d like to play abroad one day to see how I’d do against that challenge.”

Barcelona is keeping an eye on his status and could make a January approach, while Etihad sources claim the club will not authorize a trade in the middle of the season.

Sterling is said to have discussed his future with City manager Pep Guardiola, but has otherwise kept his head down and focused on the game.

Despite losing his spot in the team, his professionalism and demeanor have impressed club officials.

“I’m not a complainer,” he told the Financial Times Live. I didn’t try to make it sound more important than it is.

“I go about my business, doing what I need to do.” And I’m just itching to get started — playing matches on a regular basis, scoring goals on a regular basis.” With fellow forward Ferran Torres out for at least a month after breaking his foot while on international duty with Spain, Sterling’s chances of getting more playing time at City are expected to improve.

Torres was requested to play in the Nations League final against France despite being hurt in the last-four match against Italy, and Guardiola is unlikely to be impressed.

It may, though, work in Sterling’s favor by giving him a run of games.
