After sending a text message, Marc Overmars fantasizes about Arsenal returning to ‘sort things out.’

Arsenal’s manager, Edu, has recently been under fire for the club’s poor performance in the Premier League.

In a text chat with Ray Parlour, Arsenal legend Marc Overmars reportedly stated that he would love to return to the Emirates to help “figure it out.” Last season, the Gunners had a disappointing season, finishing eighth and losing out on European competition.

Arsenal had the funds to make significant improvements this summer in the transfer window.

Arsenal has a clear transfer strategy this summer, focusing on young players for the future.

Mikel Arteta’s new-look side now includes Ben White, Martin Odegaard, Aaron Ramsdale, Albert Sambi Lokonga, and Nuno Tavares.

However, Arteta and technical director Edu are under even more pressure after three defeats in their first three matches.

Despite the campaign’s troubling start, Stan Kroenke has signaled that he has no imminent plans to modify things.

However, in the face of mounting fan pressure and Edu’s own criticism, results will need to be turned around quickly.

And Edu may have to keep an eye on his back, with Overmars, who is currently the director of football at Ajax, expressing his desire to return to Arsenal to Parlour.

“Obviously he worked in Brazil, even Marc Overmars – I’ve had a text from him previously saying ‘Oh Ray, I need to go back to that club and sort things out,’” Parlour remarked on talkSPORT.

“Edu, they’ve gone with Edu,” he added. It’s a critical role that you must fulfill.

“Recruitment is extremely crucial for any team. I haven’t seen Mikel Arteta in a while, so I’m not sure how their connection is.

“I’m familiar with Edu as a player, and he’s been a part of successful teams. He most likely understands what they require; the question is whether they will be able to obtain them.

“How can you recruit players when you’re not in Europe?”

“Everyone aspires to play in the Champions League or the Europa League,” says the player.

“It’s extremely difficult; you may have to pay over the odds on occasion, as they have for a few players.”

Overmars has been Ajax’s director of football for nine years, and there were rumors earlier this year that he might step down.

Ajax signed Gerry Hamstra. “Brinkwire News in Condensed Form.”
