After crucial Ralf Rangnick talks, Manchester United star Amadou Diawara is ‘close to a Birmingham loan’.

Amad is reportedly close to joining Birmingham on loan from Manchester United.

According to reports, Manchester United are planning to loan Amad to Birmingham City in the Championship after Ralf Rangnick informed the Ivorian that he is not in Ralf Rangnick’s plans for the season.

On deadline day in October 2020, the Red Devils completed a lucrative £37 million deal for the highly-rated Atalanta teenager, but Amad’s first-team opportunities at Old Trafford have remained limited.

Last season, the 19-year-old scored against AC Milan in the Europa League and also played against Real Sociedad and Wolves in the final weeks of the season.

Despite playing 68 minutes against Young Boys in December, Amad’s development has been halted this season due to a troubling thigh problem.

In attack at United, however, competition is fierce, and Amad is far down the pecking order.

Rangnick, the interim manager, is said to have told the teenager that he is free to leave on loan for the remainder of the season.

Birmingham City are reportedly set to sign Amad for the remainder of the season, according to The Mirror.

United are keen to send their winger to the Midlands, and a deal is reportedly close.

Tahith Chong, who joined the Blues on loan last summer, had been a regular for Lee Bowyer prior to his injury.

That has aided United in persuading Amad that Birmingham is the right fit for him, with plenty of opportunities for young players.

This season, United has loaned a number of young academy players to the Championship in order for them to get regular playing time.

Amad could follow in the footsteps of Dishon Bernard, James Garner, Ethan Laird, and Teden Mengi, who have all made an impression away from the club this season.

Last summer, Amad was set to join Feyenoord on loan but was unable to do so due to injury.

Instead, the Rotterdam club chose to sign Arsenal’s Reiss Nelson on a season-long loan.
