After Cristiano Ronaldo’s return from Hollywood, Manchester United has a plan for his shirt number.
Cristiano Ronaldo has returned to Manchester United following a 12-year absence from the club.
According to rumours, Manchester United will seek special permission from the Premier League to grant Cristiano Ronaldo his No. 7 shirt. On Friday, the 36-year-old appeared to be on his way to Manchester City. Instead, a massive comeback to Old Trafford was announced, sending shockwaves throughout the football world.
Ronaldo was not expected to join Manchester United this summer.
When it became evident that the Juventus star was set to depart Turin, however, they decided to take action.
“Manchester United is thrilled to confirm that the club has reached agreement with Juventus for the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo, subject to agreement of personal terms, visa and medical,” United said in a statement.
Cristiano Ronaldo, a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, has won more than 30 major trophies in his career, including five UEFA Champions League crowns, four FIFA Club World Cups, seven league wins in England, Spain, and Italy, and the European Championship for his native Portugal.
“He scored 118 goals in 292 appearances during his first spell with Manchester United.

United will now seek ‘special dispensation’ from the Premier League to grant Ronaldo the No. 7 shirt, according to the Daily Mail.
Edinson Cavani is the current occupant.
On Sunday, the Uruguay international made his first appearance of the season, coming off the bench in a 1-0 win over Wolves.
Cavani would normally be unable to change jerseys because of this.
However, because United wants to give Ronaldo his famous number, there’s still a chance he’ll wear it this season.
Cavani is set to assume No 21, which will be vacant soon after Daniel James’ move to Leeds is completed.
