After Coutinho’s transfer, Aston Villa’s ‘plot Lucas Digne hijack’ from Chelsea and Newcastle.

Following his recent fallout with Rafael Benitez, LUCAS DIGNE looks set to leave Everton this month…

According to reports, Aston Villa are planning a surprise move for Lucas Digne from Chelsea and Newcastle.

Following a fallout with Rafael Benitez, the established France international full-back, who has been capped 43 times by Les Blues, is now looking to leave Everton in January.

Digne is still a fan favorite at Goodison Park, but after their recent dressing-room spat, there appears to be no way back for the 28-year-old under Benitez.

Despite the fact that Digne has returned to the matchday squad, it is clear that he will continue to be overlooked, especially in light of the recent signings of Vitaliy Mykolenko and Nathan Patterson.

Even though Everton has already received loan interest in the player, they would prefer a permanent sale.

Newcastle is thought to have made a bid in the region of £22.5 million earlier this week.

As part of the deal, the Toffees wanted to propose that Sean Longstaff move to Merseyside.

Everton have yet to reach an agreement with any club over Digne, despite interest from Chelsea, West Ham, and Napoli.

According to The Telegraph, Aston Villa are preparing to enter the fray in the hopes of making a surprise move.

Following the loan signing of Philippe Coutinho, Steven Gerrard is looking for a new left-back, and Digne fits the bill.

Gerrard has expressed interest in Aaron Hickey of Bologna and Nicolas Tagliafico of Ajax.

Following the appointment of Gerrard, Villa believe they now have the pulling power to show huge ambition in the market.

His status as one of the best midfielders of his generation will be crucial in their efforts to recruit other top talent from across Africa.

Chelsea are thought to be the frontrunners for Digne, as they look to replace Ben Chilwell, who is injured.

Chelsea has already contacted Digne’s agent to inform him of their interest, according to Express Sport.

Plan A for the Blues was to recall Emerson Palmieri from his contract.
