The target of an internal investigation by Manchester City would be Benjamin Mendy. The club is “disappointed” that Covid-19 isolation regulations were breached by the defender.
Mendy welcomed three individuals from outside his household to the 26-year-home old’s for a New Year’s Eve party.
Pep Guardiola may be infuriated by the Frenchman’s act, as the manager has continuously repeated a message of protection and care concerning the virus.
The club is aware of the Covid 19 crime on New Year’s Eve involving Benjamin Mendy and the subsequent media coverage of it, said a City spokesperson.
“While it is understood that elements of this incident were misinterpreted in the reports and the player has publicly apologized for his mistake, the club is disappointed to learn of the transgression and will conduct an internal investigation.”
A spokesman for Mendy said, as reported by The Sun, ‘Benjamin and his partner allowed a chef and two of his partner’s friends to visit his property for a New Year’s Eve dinner party.
Ben agrees that this is a violation of the protocols of Covid 19 and apologizes for his actions in this matter.
Ben has undergone testing with Covid and is in touch with Manchester City on this matter.
The club announced on Christmas Day that Gabriel Jesus and Kyle Walker had tested positive for the virus.
Due to a Covid outbreak at the club, with City’s training ground closed, City’s match at Everton on Dec. 28 was then canceled hours before kickoff.
Due to positive samples, three other players were barred from flying to Chelsea FC on Sunday, but the club has not disclosed their identities.
Afterwards, Mendy’s violation of the rules came, so it is unknown if, despite testing negative for the disease, he would be available for selection for Chelsea. Due to the infraction, Guardiola could decide against Mendy.
