After a disastrous China payday move, ex-Man United star Carlos Tevez’s net worth soared.

Carlos Tevez, a former Manchester United striker, may not have enjoyed his move to Shanghai Shenhua, but he did not leave empty-handed.

Carlos Tevez, a former Manchester United and Manchester City striker, seemed to attract controversy no matter who he played for.

The three-time Premier League and Champions League winner’s career is littered with stories of break-ups and squabbles, in addition to his immense talent and quality.

Few players in the world of football have achieved half of the success that the Argentine has.

He played for West Ham, United, and City in the Premier League for seven seasons, scoring 84 goals and adding 41 assists.

His most valuable move, however, proved to be his most disastrous, as the then-37-year-old’s net worth soared to £21 million after joining Chinese side Shanghai Shenhua.

When he moved to the Far East from Boca Juniors in 2017, the striker became the world’s highest-paid player.

While playing with former Premier League strikers Demba Ba and Obafemi Martins, he is thought to have been earning an outrageous £610,000 per week.

Shenhua is also said to have paid £9 million to his former club Boca Juniors for his services, which would have been a fantastic deal for the Argentine club given Tevez’s age.

Gus Poyet, a fellow South American, signed him, and it was one of his first major decisions as a manager at the club.

Tevez made only 20 appearances for the Chinese team, scoring four goals and assisting on five occasions.

He only stayed in Asia for a year before returning to Boca just a year after leaving his boyhood club.

Despite the fact that his time at Shenhua was brief, he earned a staggering £29 million, meaning each goal he scored cost the team around £7.25 million.

To make matters worse, he referred to his transfer to the Chinese superpower as a “vacation.”

“When I landed in China, I realized I wanted to go back to Boca, I was on vacation for seven months,” he said in an interview with La Nacion.

After being released by Boca Juniors this summer, Tevez is now a free agent.
