Nikola just signed an agreement to construct hydrogen fuelling stations across North America. According to reports, the corporation would also investigate the use of renewable natural gas.
Nikola and Opal Fuels sign a Memorandum of Understanding
Nikola, the official electric vehicle manufacturer, has officially signed a memorandum of understanding with Opal Fuels to build and operate hydrogen fuelling stations across North America. Under the terms of the preliminary agreement, the two businesses would reportedly collaborate to co-develop the technology required to speed the adoption of fuel-cell electric vehicles.
They also intend to investigate the usage of renewable natural gas, according to reports. Initially, the company states that it intends to concentrate on technical infrastructure for private shipping companies before considering whether it makes sense to make something similar available to the general public.
350 renewable gas stations were built by Opal.
Opal is said to have developed over 350 distinct renewable natural gas stations to date. Pablo Koziner, the head of Nikola’s energy and commercial activities, made a statement, according to Engadget.
According to Pablo Koziner, this is a crucial step forward in Nikola’s declared energy infrastructure aspirations. This includes its efforts to assist clients with hydrogen fuelling services. There is currently speculation that the future of electric vehicle batteries may be an all-silicon anode that produces more energy for less money.
Fuels from Nikola and Opal
Nikola, the company’s founder and previous executive chairman known as Trevor Milton, was charged with fraud by federal prosecutors just a few months ago. The Securities and Exchange Commission, or SEC, is said to have accused Milton of falsely claiming that the company was manufacturing hydrogen at a rate four times lower than the market rate.
Nikola Corporation, according to a press release, is a recognized global pioneer in zero-emissions transportation and energy infrastructure solutions. OPAL Fuels LLC is a trusted leader in the delivery of renewable gas and renewable fueling infrastructure for heavy-duty truck fleets.
