Dubai seems like the place to be, all thanks to actor Lindsay Lohan. The former child star reportedly intends to expand her growing business empire by opening up her very own island, called “Lindsayland.”
Lohan, as many are aware, has begun to make a name for herself in the world of business upon moving overseas. Before news surfaced about “Lindsayland,” the Mean Girls star launched two Lohan Beach House clubs in Greece. One location is in the Mykonos, whereas the other is located on Greece’s Island of Rhodes. Next, she intends to develop and name an island after herself in Dubai.
“I’m on Thailand Island, at the world islands, for the first time,” Lohan said, according to an Instagram post shared by The Haute Liste in January. “Soon this will be ‘Lohan Island.’”
Thailand Island is a part of Dubai’s man-made archipelago. The islands, which tend to look like the shape of the world, were created for wealthy people. While Lohan last mentioned her plans to develop a lavish island in January, things seem to be moving forward. According to a report from BuzzFeed on Wednesday, Lohan took to Instagram to share a prototype of what Lindsayland would look like in a since-deleted post. The pulled post included the hashtags #Lindsayland and #LohanIslandDubai.
Aside from Lohan’s business ventures, the actor can add “reality television star” to her resume as well. In July, it was announced that Lohan would be teaming up with MTV to premiere a reality docuseries, titled Lohan Beach House. The show, which she’s set to executive produce, will follow The Parent Trap star as she opens her luxurious beach resorts in Greece. It’s slated to debut in 2019.
“Lohan’s team must prove their expertise, ambition and charm while helping bring Lohan’s vision to life,” a press release from MTV reads, according to a July 30 report by CNN. “The stakes are high as the team establishes new friendships and alliances while striving to rise above the temptations the Mykonos nightlife scene has to offer.”
Lohan, in addition to this, became a spokesperson for Lawyer.com in March. She will act as the company’s marketing and brand advisor during a 12-month period. Despite having suffered from past legal issues of her own, the actor-turn-businesswoman was able to mock her previous setbacks in a video advertisement for the company.
“When Lawyer.com first reached out to me, I was confused and a little scared because I thought I was in trouble,” she said in the ad. “But when they asked me to be their spokesperson, I was intrigued. After meeting with the team, I realized Lawyer.com is just about helping people.”
Representatives for Lohan did not immediately return Newsweek‘s request for comment.
