According to reports, Mayor Zohran Mamdani will be at Madison Square Garden on the same night as Donald Trump plans to attend Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
For the first time in almost thirty years, New York is back in the finals. Mike Brown’s team will play the San Antonio Spurs in an attempt to win their first championship since 1973.
On Wednesday night, the series begins in Texas. On Monday, June 8, both teams travel to New York for Game 3.
The president is also anticipated to attend The Garden that evening for the first NBA Finals game in New York in 27 years, according to the New York Post.
Ahead of Trump’s possible visit, MSG employees are allegedly tightening up security measures.
Since taking office again, Trump has attended several important athletic events, such as the Ryder Cup, the Super Bowl, the US Open tennis tournament, and a New York Yankees game.
According to reports, President Donald Trump intends to travel to New York for Game 3 of the NBA Finals.
“If I go to the game, I’ll be doing so separately,” Mamdani stated on joining Trump at MSG. The New York Knicks are back in the NBA Finals and aiming for their first championship since 1973.
After getting an invitation from Knicks owner James Dolan, the president, a native of New York, recently said that he intended to attend one of the games.
The president declared, “I think I’ll be going to one of the games.” “A lot of people, including [Dolan], invited me, and I believe I will be attending.”
“Boy, what a team!” he continued. It’s wonderful to see that they win every game. After years of hardship, the Knicks are currently performing admirably.
Mamdani is aiming to attend Game 3 at The Garden, although the mayor already ruled out sitting next to President Trump, according to the New York Post. “If I go… Mamdani remarked, “I’ll be doing so separately.”
“If the president went to a game, that’s his decision to make,” Mamdani said, sitting in the nosebleeds during Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals as the Knicks defeated the Cleveland Cavaliers to sweep the series. He told TMZ, “I’ll be attending the game alone if I go.”
“If the president comes to watch the Knicks, I’ll leave the president to watch the Knicks as he wants to watch the Knicks,” Mamdani later stated during a press conference.
In 2012, the president is seen sitting courtside at a Knicks vs. Bucks game.
The Democratic mayor told TMZ that he would not comment on whether the MSG audience will react favorably to Trump. We New Yorkers are erratic individuals. If I tried to make a forecast, I believe I would look foolish.
Additionally, he avoided challenging Trump’s credentials as a Knicks fan. “I will say that anyone who wants to come and watch the Knicks… should be welcome there,” he stated, according to ABC. “I’m not going to do any analysis of the president’s fandom.” I can assure you that everyone in the five boroughs seems to be thinking about it, and we’re ecstatic.
The Knicks easily defeated the Cavaliers in four games, despite Trump’s plans to attend Game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals.
