Woman dies after being ‘stabbed several times by a young man at a home in Oatlands’

A woman has died after she was allegedly stabbed multiple times at a home in western Sydney.

Multiple emergency services were called to an apartment block in Ingleby Street, Oatlands at around 4.50pm on Monday.

Police shut down the street as paramedics performed CPR on the woman who had significant injuries, police said.

The woman aged in her 30s, was rushed to Westmead Hospital in a critical condition but died a short time later.

A man, 25, was arrested at the scene and taken to Granville Police Station, where he’s assisting police with their inquiries.

Police said the man arrested at the scene was known to the woman.

A NSW Ambulance spokeswoman told Daily Mail Australia four crews attended the scene, along with CareFlight.

Police remain at the scene and have launched an investigation into the incident.

Officers are investigating reports the fatal incident could be been sparked by a possible love triangle, Nine News reported.

A second man also known to the woman is believed to have been at the home at the time of the alleged stabbing but fled after calling police.

He was treated nearby for a minor injury and didn’t require further treatment.

‘He’s not an offender and we have located him and [he] is currently helping us back at Granville Police Station with a statement,’ Chief Inspector Adam Philipps told the ABC.

A second crime scene linked to the alleged attack is being examined in a nearby street.

‘We are still in the infancy of the investigation,’ Chief Inspector Philipps said.

‘We are currently doing a canvassing of the units and we’re just hoping now to try and put some sort of picture around not only today’s incident, but the relationship of the female and the two parties involved today.’

Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
