A woman has been charged after a seven-week-old baby boy allegedly died with meth and amphetamine in his system more than two years ago.

Emergency services were called to a home in Annandale in Sydney’s inner-west after the baby was found unresponsive on February 18, 2018.

Paramedics treated the youngster but he died at the scene on Ferris Street and both drugs were allegedly found inside him during a post-mortem examination.

Detectives from Leichhardt Police Area Command then set up Strike Force Corry to investigate his death.

New South Wales Police said following lengthy investigations detectives arrested a 40-year-old woman at a Silverwater correctional facility in Sydney’s west.

She has been charged with poisoning to endanger life and was refused bail to appear at Newtown Local Court on Friday.
