After a negligent sitter allegedly left her front door open, a San Diego cat owner is in sorrow for her cherished pet, whose she believes was devoured by coyotes.

Blair, a 12-year-old black-and-white tuxedo cat, passed away, leaving Anna Coombs devastated.

Coombs claimed that when she and her husband were out of town, she hired a pet sitter to keep an eye on her four-legged companion at her University City residence.

However, she says that within five minutes of her arrival, the sitter contacted her to let her know that her normally indoor cat had ventured outside.

As she carried her belongings inside, she left the door open. “She saw our cat go outside,” Coombs remarked. “Blair has never gone outside and returned voluntarily.” After that, [the sitter] simply left the door open all night since she thought Blair was an outdoor cat. “This has been, like, the most devastating week and day of our lives, and there’s so much I want to say about Blair.” I’m furious with this individual.

According to Coombs, they prayed for Blair’s return throughout the anxious days that followed.

After a pet sitter allegedly let her out the front door, Anna Coombs grieved for her 12-year-old black-and-white tuxedo cat Blair, whom she believes was killed by coyotes.

She texted us a full day after it happened, essentially saying, “Hey, I feel at peace about this,” and claimed that the sitter had even negotiated a higher payment because of her experience pet sitting. I have no doubt that your cat will return. “Is this normal?” was not a question she posed. In a TikTok video, she yelled, “She just assumed.”

However, her agony quickly gave way to complete hopelessness, and a day later, Coombs revealed that Blair had been discovered dead.

She clarified that before a hound discovered what they thought to be Blair’s remains, a professional animal rescue team employed a thermal drone and scent-tracking dogs.

Two coyotes running across the nearby trails were also captured by the drone.

They were a fantastic crew, really kind, and very careful with everything. Coombs remarked, “But I didn’t want to accept it.”

They stated that there is always hope since there is always a chance that the probability is incorrect. However, I believe that we know deep down that she is no longer with us.

Blair has lived with Coombs for her whole childhood, and the two have relocated to other locations together, according to Coombs.

Within five minutes of getting to her University City home, Coombs said the sitter informed her that she had lost the cat.

Coombs sought professional assistance to find Blair, and investigators think they have discovered both evidence of coyotes and her remains.

She accompanied me to Austin and to college. “She moved to New York with me, and she moved to San Diego with me,” Coombs remarked.

She has literally been a part of every significant turning point in my life. She was in the passenger seat of my car when my husband and I shared our first kiss outside of it. My children were meant to meet her. Blair was like family to me, even though I realize it’s only a cat. I don’t want to discuss the sitter any further. However, Blair was my soul cat and was such a special kitty. And the fact that this was her demise makes me incredibly sad.

“I just hope she understands how much I cherished her and how much she genuinely enriched our lives.”

Coombs is now advising other pet owners to exercise extreme caution when handling their cherished animals.

“I’m just warning anyone in our area, please, please keep your pets safe. They know them very well,” she said.

“Please, please look for pet sitters that you have complete faith in.” And tell them what has to be expressed repeatedly.
