With increased public appearances, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are entering a ‘era of prominence.’
With their journey to New York, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry gave an indication of how they will “function going forward” as the couple moves towards a “period of prominence.”
Last month, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle made their first combined public appearance in New York, indicating their future plans now that they are no longer working members of the Royal Family. The couple’s three-day journey was jam-packed with high-profile engagements and meetings, marking their move into their “period of exposure,” according to their biographer Omid Scobie.
“This maybe gives us an idea of how they’re going to function going ahead, the kind of things they’re going to undertake,” producer Lizzie Robinson said on ITV’s Royal Rota podcast.
“We know what topics they care about, but maybe this is how they’ll function in the future, doing things they care about and inviting the media they want to cover it.”
“And we know from Harry and Meghan’s biographer Omid Scobie that this is the visible phase of Harry and Meghan’s world this year, rather than the invisible phase that they were in earlier,” Royal editor Chris Ship stated.
“I’ll leave it to you to decide how inconspicuous they’ve been.”
Author Omid Scobie states that the couple is entering their “thrive chapter” as they build their in-person work over the coming months in the current edition of his unofficial biography ‘Finding Freedom.’
Since their departure from the Royal Family in 2020, the couple has made headlines for their media deals and candid talks.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex delivered an explosive interview to Oprah Winfrey in March 2021, in which they explained the breakdown of their ties with the British monarchy and discussed their future intentions now that they had relocated to California.
The Royal Family has been accused of disregarding Meghan Markle’s mental health, denying their son a title, and having a senior member of the family make a racist remark.
The interview prompted a public relations dilemma for Buckingham Palace, which issued a statement saying that while “recollections may vary,” the pair remained much-loved members of the royal family.
Prince Harry proceeded to criticize his royal relatives in later interviews with Oprah and Dax Shephard.
