Fans of Kyle Richards were taken aback when the star’s early, unrecognizable performance in a legendary, multi-award-winning musical went viral.
Richards, 57, originally enthralled viewers with parts in classics like Halloween in 1978 and Little House on the Prairie from 1975 to 1982. Today, audiences recognize Richards as the gorgeous, drama-inducing star of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
But one part in a drama that won 25 Golden Globes has mostly gone unnoticed: Richards costarred with actor Noah Wyle in ER.
Richards portrayed the stubborn Nurse Dori Kerns in 21 episodes of the show, making her debut in the fifth season in 1998, without her now-signature hair extensions, artificial tan, and luxury clothes.
Kerns faced out against the main stars of the show in this position, including Julianna Margulies as Nurse Manager Carol Hathaway, Anthony Edwards as Dr. Mark Greene, and Wyle, now known for The Pitt, as Dr. John Carter.
In nurse scrubs and a dowdy makeover, Richards looked completely different from her opulent lifestyle in Los Angeles. Fans joked, “She looks younger now than she did then.”

“I can’t believe you’re going to see George again, that’s so cool,” she said to People on her first day on the ER set.
“What do you mean?” I asked. “Wait a minute, that George was George Clooney, the Sexiest Man Alive on PEOPLE magazine?!” I exclaimed as she began discussing our trip.
“I never connected the dots.” When I was a teenager, we were pals. He approached me on the first day I was filming ER and said, “Hey, how are you?”
“I can’t believe he remembered and I didn’t,” I thought. This is really embarrassing.” He was incredibly kind and grounded. So beautiful.

Before RHOBH, Richards was a young actress who costarred with Jamie Lee Curtis in the 1978 horror film Halloween.
Richards and her first husband, Guraish Aldjufrie, have a 36-year-old daughter named Farrah. The reality star’s former husband Mauricio Umansky had three children: Alexia, 29; Sophia, 25; and Portia, 17.
In the Halloween reboot trilogy, she made a comeback as Lindsey Wallace.
I was just eight years old on Halloween. Richards once remarked, “I didn’t know what I was doing until I saw it, then I was like What on God’s green Earth.”
They were attempting to “find characters that have been established in John Carpenter’s original and finding ways to keep them involved in the story,” according to writer Danny McBride.
“It just felt so good, all these people from the original movie coming together again,” Richards continued.
In a 2019 interview, Curtis praised Richards’ performance, saying, “She is so great that it’s going to be so fun for her audience, who now is [used to] [knowing] her for her TV show – they are going to be so happy to [see] an actress again.”
“Curtis continued, “She is so amazing and gorgeous that, you know, she gets very… distressed in this movie in every way.”
“Emotionally, physically, and environmentally, she simply let that other life come and shoot for three or four weeks, and it was incredible.” People will go crazy over her.
