Updates on the M1 traffic nightmare: a massive accident has caused five-mile queues and lane closures.
A CRASH on the M1 has closed two lanes, causing five-mile queues and warnings of 40-minute delays.
Officers are on the scene of a collision on the M1 northbound near Sheffield’s M18 interchange.
Due to the collision and debris on the road, National Highways Yorkshire has issued a warning about barrier damage.
The AA reports severe delays on the M1 Northbound between M1 (Woodall Services) and J32 M18 (M18 interchange), with an average speed of five miles per hour.
Following the incident, there is traffic for miles along the route.
At junction 32 (M18 interchange), two lanes have been shut down.
With live visuals from motorway cameras showing swaths of traffic on the carriageway, only one lane remains open to drivers.
The road has been closed since around 5.40 p.m., according to reports.
