Netflix officially released the opening scene of the second season ahead of the release date.
They said: “Five (played by Aidan Gallagher) warned his family so, so many times that using his powers to escape from Vanya’s (Ellen Page) 2019 apocalypse was risky.
“Well, he was right – the time jump scatters the siblings in time in and around Dallas, Texas. Over a three year period. Starting in 1960.
“Some, having been stuck in the past for years, have built lives and moved on, certain they’re the only ones who survived.
“Five is the last to land, smack dab in the middle of a nuclear doomsday, which – spoiler alert! – turns out is a result of the group’s disruption of the timeline (déjà vu, anyone?).
“Now the Umbrella Academy must find a way to reunite, figure out what caused doomsday, put a stop to it, and return to the present timeline to stop that other apocalypse.
“All while being hunted by a trio of ruthless Swedish assassins. But seriously, no pressure or anything.”
Fans have already noticed a number of exciting changes from the first scene, including the return of assassin Hazel (Cameron Britton), and Allison Hargreeves (Emmy Raver-Lampman) gets her voice back.
Vanya has also been accepted back into the group after she slit Allison’s throat during season one.
Viewers can expect plenty of action as a new set of assassins make it their mission to bring down the Hargreeves family.
The Swedes are an interesting trio who is known for making an entrance with their over-the-top weapons.
Fans will also be introduced to another character from the comic books – Carmichael.
From the opening scene, viewers find out the second apocalypse is caused by a nuclear war between America and the USSR.
Fans commented on the first scene on Twitter, with one saying: “Wow, this already looks better than the first season.”
Another viewer said: “I couldn’t be more excited, it looks awesome.”
Actress Page shared the opening scene with her fans on social media and she told fans to “get ready” for the intense new season.
