UFO sightings: A new report suggests the ‘alien spacecraft’ notion can’t be ruled out – and it spans 20 years.
Unidentified flying objects have been sighted in recent years, and a US government assessment hasn’t ruled out the possibility that they are alien.
The brief is about flying objects seen by US military personnel over the last 20 years. According to the New York Times, it explains why more than 120 sightings did not involve US military or government spacecraft.
The “only conclusive finding” is that military pilots may have come into contact with secret US government technology in use.
On June 25, an unclassified report will be presented to Congress, with “few other clear conclusions.”
Theories involving “alien spacecraft” could not be ruled out, according to a New York Times investigation on the findings.
“Senior officials briefed on the intelligence admitted that the findings’ vagueness meant the administration couldn’t completely rule out hypotheses that the events spotted by military pilots were alien spacecraft,” it continued.
It comes after Daniel Drezner, a Tufts University professor of international politics, advised that “we need to talk about UFOs.”
“It is increasingly respectable to acknowledge that unidentified aircraft occurrences are a thing,” he wrote in the Washington Post, citing the Pentagon dossier.
Prof Drezner has stated his position on the phenomenon after former Presidents Barack Obama and Donald Trump spoke out against it.
“What I do know is that UFOs exist,” he stated. We can no longer ignore this.”
