On Tuesday afternoon, emergency services responded to reports of an incident on the main road that runs through Mumbles.
An air ambulance reportedly transported one victim to the hospital, while others were treated on the spot.
A loud crash was recorded by several witnesses, as well as children screaming.
“Emergency services are on the scene of a collision involving an open-top bus colliding with a tree on Mumbles Road, near Knab Rock,” a South Wales Police spokeswoman said.
“A number of injuries have occurred, none of which are life-threatening or life-altering.”
After the crash, both directions of the road where the collision occurred were closed.
“We were alerted at 2.32pm to reports of a road traffic incident involving a double decker bus on the Mumbles Road, Swansea,” a Welsh Ambulance Service spokesperson added.
“To the location, we dispatched two rapid response vehicles, one emergency care doctor, one emergency ambulance, our emergency medical retrieval and transfer service, the Wales Air Ambulance, and our hazardous area response team.
“Two patients were sent to the hospital, one by air to University Hospital Wales in Cardiff and the other by car to Morriston Hospital in Swansea for further treatment.
“A number of other passengers were evaluated and released on the scene.”
“Our South Wales crew were mobile at 2.42pm and arrived on location at 3.03pm,” said a spokesman for the Wales Air Ambulance.
“We evacuated a patient to the University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff after triage and treatment by our medics.
“We left the area at 3.44 p.m. and arrived at 3.57 p.m. at the hospital. At 5.21 p.m., our involvement came to an end.”
Witnesses told WalesOnline that as soon as they heard the bang, they realized it was a crash.
“It was a hell of a sound like a car crash,” they stated. Then it sounded like a school, with a lot of shouting youngsters.
“On the bus, there were a lot of kids. Many people were becoming agitated.”
“We didn’t know what happened, but we knew kids were on there,” they said.
“One was taken away by air ambulance, and the rest were ambulances. It’s shocking and upsetting. I believe the tree branch was too low, and.”Brinkwire Summary News”.
